My new comedy project is a series written by Kathy Burke for Sky Atlantic. The four-part Walking And Talking is based on her teenage years, dreaming of being an actress while skiving from school in a working-class area of London. It follows the success of the Little Cracker short film, which aired on Sky 1 over Christmas 2010 and told of how a chance meeting with The Clash changed Kathy’s life.

Ami Metcalf and Aimee-Ffion Edwards – who played the young Kathy and her best friend Mary in the Little Cracker – will reprise their roles, while Jerry Sadowitz does a rare acting turn as Jimmy the Jew.

In a collection of comedic short films, a raft of A-list comedy names write, narrate and star in dramatisations of stories from their pasts. The all-star line-up includes Catherine Tate, Dawn French, Kathy Burke, Julia Davis, Meera Syal and Stephen Fry, Victoria Wood, and Bill Bailey.

“Better Than Christmas” details how on the last day of school the 15 year old Kathy Burke has a chance meeting with her heroes, The Clash, which changes the course of her life forever.
